'A Patchwork of Culture' in York

Calling all members of the YUMI (York Unifying Multicultural Initiative) network in York!

If you're a member of the YUMI network then we'd love you to join us on our latest project. The YUMI Patchworkers and the Quilt Museum and Gallery are currently working to make some beautiful patchwork banners for the YUMI Festival this July and we need your help!

If you've never heard of YUMI why not have a look at their website: http://www.yumiyork.org/

Everyone in the YUMI network is invited to contribute a patchwork block reflecting their culture, where they come fromor where they live now. The idea is to create a patchwork of cultures and identities that reflect who is living in York now and explain why that makes our city such an exciting place to live. These blocks will be put together to make some stunning banners for the Festival and future YUMI events.

You can make your block at home or drop into our free, block-making sessions at the Museum where you will be able to use our sewing machines, hand-sewing kit and fabric scraps to make your patchwork block.

Take a look at the PDF info sheet below for guidelines, contact details and dates for drop-in sessions.
