Two piece bikini set made by Jean Amsden for a competition run by Sanderson fabrics. Consists of diamond patchwork in floral design fabrics with patchwork lining.The bikini featured in the publication ‘Creative Patchwork’ by June Field in 1974 and also the West Sussex Gazette and South of England Advertiser dated June 8th 1970 as part of the Women’s Institute Exhibition at Sanderson House; a magazine article showing it as a 'pretty thing to make and wear’ with templates and instructions; and in the Daily Mirror, headline ‘Its the itsy bitsy teeny weeny Women’s Institute Bikini’, May 30th 1970.
