Nine copper printing plates relating to the British Quilting Company, used in their marketing, advertisements and as letterheads for their stationary. The plates include: 1. The “Comfy” Cot and Pram Coverlet (showing mother with baby in a cot covered by cot quilt) 2. The “Comfy Quilt” Washable (showing comfy quilt on bed in 1930s style bedroom) 3. Quilted Art Silk Dressing Gowns and jackets (showing two 1920s/30s ladies in dressing gowns) 4. The “Comfy” Quilted Art Silk Nightdress & Handkerchief Sachets 5. The “Comfy Quilt” Washable (variation on no.2), 6. The British Quilting Company (possibly a letterhead, showing the factory building in Waterfoot), 7. A bed showing an Eiderdown style quilt on the top, 8. A bed showing a zigzag quilted top and long frilled valance, 9. Bed showing mattress cover and mattress partly lifted up, with words along mattress edge “Snaps on easily, 12” plain box sides, Elastic hem grip”.

These plates were made for the British Quilting company who manufactured the “Comfy” Quilt as well as other quilted items such as mattress covers, cot/pram quilts, dressing gowns and lingerie cases. They were an important competitor in the 20th century to hand quilted items, as a company were in operation from 1912 to 1970.
