Unlike the other log cabin quilts or coverlets on display, this design uses just plain Turkey Red and white cotton fabrics arranged in ‘courthouse steps’ formation. The blocks are machine stitched and turned as a ‘fell’ seam. Fell seams can be found on modern day jeans, and they secure the layers of fabric together with three lines of stitching, as well as hiding the seam allowance. The edges are bound in red at the top and bottom and white at the sides.
