Arriving by Car

Visitors to York who come by car are encouraged to use one of the convenient Park & Ride sites on the outer ring road. Pay parking is also available in the city centre.

• from the A64 (Scarborough) - Monks Cross Park & Ride *
• from the A64/A1(M) (Leeds) - Askham Bar Park & Ride and Designer Outlet Park & Ride
• from the A1079 (Hull/Beverley) - Grimston Bar Park & Ride *
• from the A166/615 (Bridlington) - Grimston Bar Park & Ride *
• from the A19 (Selby) - Designer Outlet Park & Ride
• from the A19 (Thirsk/Teeside/Darlington) - Rawcliffe Bar Park & Ride

* Buses from Grimston Bar and Monks Cross Park & Rides drop off on Peasholme Green directly opposite the museum, outside the Black Swan pub.

Alternative parking is availablenearby at Haymarket, Foss Bank and the Shambles Pay & Display car parks, please be aware that these fill early during busy times. Please note the Haymarket car park is closed from 1 Feb until mid March.
