From the 15th of October, a new exhibition in the Bailey Gallery entitled ‘Patchwork for the Parlour: Victorian Fancywork at its finest’ will open, featuring sumptuous and rich pieces from the Guild’s heritage collection.

In a contrast to the international theme of the ‘Quilts in Common’ exhibition on loan from the International Quilt Study Centre in Nebraska, ‘Patchwork for the Parlour’ will focus on objects in the collection made in Victorian England in the second half of the 19th Century. During this period, patchwork and needlework were being used to create items to decorate the living space as well as the bedroom. This exhibition provides an opportunity to show off some of the smaller pieces in the collection, including table covers, cushions and tea cosies, as well as some larger quilts and coverlets.
So come and experience the extravagance of Victorian taste!
Open from 15th of October to 11th of January.
