A multi-coloured cotton frame quilt. It features a square with three borders on two sides and five borders on the other two sides. It contains wool wadding and is hand pieced and hand quilted. The central square has a quilted rose at the centre with four hearts and four straight vines, fans in the corners and a diamond infill. The first border contains clamshell motifs, the second straight line waves and the third wine glass motifs. The oldest of the fabrics date from the late 18th Century. It was made by Mary Best who lived in Buckinghamshire and died in 1885.
