Sea green coloured rayon quilt with elaborate design of distinctively Welsh motifs, including double hearts, spirals, pennies, and leaves in a clearly framed layout. However, despite the characteristic Welsh patterns and design, the provenance of the quilt suggests it was made in Yorkshire.
This examples is also one of several known quilts which have a virtually identical pattern. A very similar design appears in a brochure entitled ‘Quilting’ by Country Industries Ltd, a London based shop that sold traditional British crafts. The catalogue gives some pictures of different styles of quilts and quilted items for sale, including Welsh and North Country traditional patterns.
