The Quilt Museum and Gallery offers a range of facilities to the visitor.
The Great Hall
This magnificent timbered hall is the main exhibition space for the museum, hosting a programme of changing exhibitions.
The Bailey Gallery
This smaller gallery situated off the Great Hall is named after Barbara Bailey, who left a substantial bequest to The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles (QGBI). The gallery hosts a programme of changing exhibitions.
The Library
The library of The Quilters' Guild has a substantial collection of books, pamphlets, periodicals, slides and audio-visual material relating to quilting, patchwork and qppliqué of the British Isles and abroad. The library is available to all visitors for reference during their visit. Members of QGBI may borrow books and materials. The library will be staffed by volunteers at times to be confirmed, so please contact us in advance if you are making a special visit to use the library.
The Education Room
The education room hosts a programme of educational activities for all ages relating to quilting and textiles. The room can also be booked for bespoke training sessions in conjunction with a group visit or for meetings. Please contact us for further details.
The Shop
Our shop stocks books and souvenirs relating to quilting and textiles within the British Isles.
The Quilt Store
The Quilt Store is home to the collections of QGBI. Access to the store is by pre-booked visit arranged with the Curator or Director; please contact us for details.
Special Guild Members' Room
QGBI members are entitled to free use of the exclusive Members' Room — rest your feet and catch up with friends over a cup of coffee! The Members' Room on the first floor is a cosy room with comfy chairs and tea- and coffee-making facilities. This room has been fitted out thanks to a generous donation from the Yorkshire, Cleveland and Humberside Region of QGBI (Region 14).

Toilets are located by the lift on the ground floor.
Other facilities
The Quilt Museum and Gallery is part of a larger complex consisting of a sensory garden, The Old Coach House Café and Restaurant, The Old School House Sculpture Workshop, and the Wedding Dress Workshop. (Opening dates and further information to be confirmed.) |
